Happy Halloween!

Today you will receive a Markbook printout which will show you your marks on individual assignments, and what is owing. You will have until tomorrow morning (8:45 am) to submit any owing work showing after the Unit 1 test.

Have you submitted your form for Wednesday's field trip? Please be sure to do so by tomorrow (Tuesday!).

On Friday you all indicated that you wanted to learn 'more' about mountain gorillas. So today (and for part of tomorrow) you will watch Gorillas in the Mist. It's a great film about the woman who is thought to be responsible for saving the mountain gorilla species from extinction. Click here to find the handout for the film. We did a critical analysis of cartoons depicting Africa. For each of the five cartoons you:
1) Described in detail what you saw in the picture.
2) Tried to articulate the message the cartoonist was trying to send.

Next, we talked about East Africa as a physical region (see slide). What is the difference between Physical Geography and a Physical Region?

How is East Africa both a physical region and a tourist destination? (think! ... climate, wildlife, the savanna, the Great Rift Valley ... what else?)

Handout (see last slide for questions from the textbook).
